The Soweto Arts and Culture Festival (SACF) is a community development project curated by the National Arts and Culture Development Foundation.
The 2021 inaugural edition of the festival created a lot of job opportunities for artists who have had no income due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The four day festival was held in Meadowlands, Soweto from the 20th to the 23rd of May 2021.
The event was headlined by established artists as well as up and coming local artists across various disciplines. The event enjoyed extensive media coverage from SABC Morning Live, Newzroom Afrika, Radio 2000, Power FM, etc. We also had various impactful social media campaigns with our hashtag #SACF2021.
The festival also conducted free educational workshops for young and aspirant artists which were presented by various entertainment industry experts.
The 2021 edition was a huge success and consequently received an award for championing the township economy from SSICCF (Soweto and Surrounding Industry Chambers Council Forum).
